Hey guys, I went to a large national furniture store to purchase a dresser. I was wondering if anyone has seen price manipulation like this before.
The numbers are confusing but thats my point . The dresser was $899 retail on their website with an online sale price of $719. The store was having a 33% off retail price sale but the lady said she would give me 50% off if I purchase a $99 protection warranty. She said $625 for the dresser was 50% off the retail price of $1199 (Dont know where that inflated number came from but it was on my receipt too).
I did not want the $99 extended warranty but to get the "sale price" of $625 I had to buy the warranty or a $199 mattress pad. Lol.
Total bill was $840 with tax and delivery. Went back today and told them I didnt want the warranty and would return the item if they didnt take it off. They took it off and the bill was reduced by $99. Was I being a dick for going back? I felt like they were just messing with the numbers to jack up the price.
